WERD
BIO
The road to house music for DJ Werd had its humble beginnings in the cities of Houston, TX and Beaumont, TX. As a native of the South, DJ Werd grew up listening to the old school music his parents played constantly on the radio. Artists such as Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Luther Vandross, Barry White, and The Temptations laid the groundwork for great vocals he loves and searches for in a vocal house track. During his teenage years, DJ Werd kept this foundation while also listening to pop artists of the 90’s. However, there was a distinct style of music played during the late nights on the weekends that kept his attention. He didn’t know what house music was…he just knew he liked it.
DJ Werd learned more
about house music
when going out to
clubs and purchasing
CDs. He learned about
Dajae, Cajmere, Masters
At Work, Kings of
Tomorrow, DJ Gregory,
Bob Sinclar, and the list
just keeps going. Through
a mutual friend, DJ Werd
met DJ Malik in 2003 and
instant friendship was
born. This is when DJ
Werd fully learned about
different genres of house
music, more house music
artists, and considered
learning how to mix music.
In the fall of 2012, DJ Werd
and DJ Malik decided to
form QMS to showcase
their talents.
DJ Werd has many house music influences: Houston RENT parties, DJ J. Salaam, DJ Esteban Torres, DJ Mark Farina, DJ Derrick Carter, Doc Martin, DJ Mr. V, Lars Behrenroth…and that’s just the short list! When you hear a mix by DJ Werd, you never what to expect because he loves the variety of house music. Just know when he plays, DJ Werd mixes from his heart and soul and you’ll enjoy the journey.
